Sir/Madam, The Government of India, Ministry of Electronics and Informa on Technology (MeitY), has established the Data Protec on Board of India (DPBI) under Sec on 18 of the Digital Personal Data Protec on Act, 2023 (22 of 2023). The Board has been established as a body corporate with the mandate to func on as an independent adjudicatory authority for the effec ve enforcement of the provisions of the Act. The DPBI is envisaged as a digital-by-design ins tu on, aligned with the Government’s objec ve of ensuring efficient, transparent, and technology-enabled governance. It is empowered to inquire into personal data breaches and instances of non-compliance, issue appropriate direc ons for mi ga on and remedia on, and impose monetary penal es, in accordance with the provisions of the DPDP Act and the DPDP rules 2025 framed thereunder. The Board, as envisaged under the Act, will consist of a Chairperson and other Members.

2. In pursuance of the above and for preparing a panel of names to be considered by a Search-cum-Selec on Commi ee (SCSC), applica ons are invited for the following statutory offices:

4. Essen al Educa onal qualifica ons: Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.

5. Domain Knowledge: Candidates must possess a minimum of five (5) years of special knowledge or professional experience in the fields of data governance, administra on or implementa on of laws related to social or consumer protec on, dispute resolu on, informa on and communica on technology, digital economy, law, regula on or techno-regula on, or in any other field which in the opinion of the Central Government may be useful to the Board. -:: 2::-

6. Age Limit and Tenure: The minimum age for applying for the post is 55 years as on the closing date of submission of applica ons. The tenure of the post is for a term not exceeding two (2) years or ll the age of sixty-five (65) years, whichever is earlier.

7. Essen al Experience: 7.1 Chairperson: The Chairperson shall be a person of ability, integrity, and standing, having held a post equivalent to Addi onal Secretary to the Government of India or above; or having held a posi on not less than one level below the head of:

(i)

(ii) an academic, policy, or research ins tu on of repute; or a body corporate with a paid-up capital of ₹100 crore or turnover of ₹500 crore. 7.2 Member: Members shall be persons of ability, integrity, and standing, having held a post equivalent to Joint Secretary to the Government of India or above; or having held a posi on not less than two levels below the head of:

(i)

(ii) an academic, policy, or research ins tu on of repute; or a body corporate with a paid-up capital of ₹100 crore or turnover of ₹500 crore.

Note: At least one among the Members shall be an expert in the field of law.

8. Terms and Condi ons of Service: The Salary, Allowances and other terms & condi ons of service shall be governed by the DPDP Act, 2023 and the Fi h Schedule of the DPDP Rules, 2025. The Chairperson and Members shall be en tled to a consolidated monthly salary of ₹4,50,000 and ₹4,00,000 respec vely without the facility of house and car. The consolidated salary would be subject to deduc ons of pension or any other re rement benefits which the candidate is en tled to. 8.1 The Chairperson and Members shall be en tled to Traveling Allowance and LTC as applicable to an officer of the Central Government in Pay Matrix Level 17 (Chairperson) and Level 15 (Member). A er demi ng office, they shall not accept any employment for a period of one year without the prior approval of the Central Government. The Chairperson and Members shall be deemed to be public servants.

9. Disqualifica ons: A person shall be disqualified if she/he has been adjudged an insolvent, convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude, become physically or mentally incapable, acquired prejudicial financial interests, or abused her posi on.

10.
