Why MYND built a verbatim, self-updating knowledge base of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act and Rules, how the interpretation is kept separate, and how to read it.
What this is#
The DPDP Wiki is a free reference for India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025. It reproduces the official text of the Act, the Rules, the Schedules and every notification exactly as the Government of India published them, adds what is in force on any given day, and explains each provision in plain English in clearly labelled panels.
It is maintained by MYND Integrated Solutions, a back-office services and compliance company that has run payroll, finance and statutory compliance for more than 1,000 organisations for 25 years. Personal data of employees, vendors and customers runs through all of that work, which is why we needed a single, trustworthy place to read the law. Three promises#
- Official text stays official. Anything shown under an "Official text" heading comes from a Government of India source (gov.in or nic.in), was downloaded and checksummed, was parsed by open code, and is shown verbatim. No edits of any kind. You can verify every document under Sources & verification.
- Interpretation is separate and labelled. Plain-English interpretation, guides and FAQ answers are prepared by the DPDP Wiki editorial team from the official text alone. They sit inside panels marked "Interpretation, not legal advice", carry the date they were prepared, and are never a substitute for the official text or for professional advice.
- The site keeps itself current. Every morning at 06:00 IST a job polls official feeds (the Press Information Bureau, MeitY, the Gazette of India and others), mirrors anything new about the Act, summarises it, and republishes the site. New items appear under Official updates and in the RSS feed. In-force status on every page is recomputed daily.
How to read a provision page#
Each section or rule page has the same shape: a status pill (in force, upcoming or not yet notified) with the notification that fixed the date; an infobox with the rules made under the section and the source; the official text with anchors on every sub-section and clause so you can link to #ss-5 or #cl-1-a; defined terms linked to the glossary on first use; an interpretation panel in plain English; related provisions; and a footer with a citation string, Markdown and JSON downloads, and the official PDF.
Who this is for#
