# Rule 18: Salary, allowances and other terms and conditions of service of Chairperson and other Members

*The Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, G.S.R. 846(E) dated 13 November 2025. In force since 13 November 2025.*

## Official text

The Chairperson and every other Member shall receive such salary and allowances and shall have such other terms and conditions of service as are specified in Fifth Schedule.

## Made under

- [s. 20 Salary, allowances payable to and term of office](https://dpdp.myndsolution.com/wiki/act/section-20-salary-allowances-payable-to-and-term-of-office/)

## Interpretation in plain English (not legal advice)

> This is a plain-English interpretation of the official text, prepared by the DPDP Wiki editorial team. It is not the law and not legal advice, and it may be incomplete or wrong. Always rely on the official text of the Act, the Rules and the notifications, and take advice from a qualified professional for your situation.

This rule sets out where to find the financial and employment details for the leadership of the Data Protection Board of India. The Board is the official body created to enforce the Digital Personal Data Protection Act. Under this rule, the Chairperson and every other Member of the Board are entitled to specific compensation. Their exact salary and allowances are not listed in this specific rule, but are instead written down in the Fifth Schedule of the rules. Beyond just their pay, the Fifth Schedule also contains all the other terms and conditions of their service. This means that anyone looking to understand the employment rules, benefits, or working conditions for the Chairperson and the Members must refer directly to the Fifth Schedule.

### Key points

- The salary and allowances for the Chairperson and every other Member are specified in the Fifth Schedule.
- All other terms and conditions of service for these individuals are also set out in the Fifth Schedule.

*Interpretation prepared 2026-09-09 from the official text only; the official text prevails.*
